U.S. History
Students will analyze American history from Native American civilizations and early settlements through the Civil War in the first semester of this course. They will discover how the development of the United States and New York have been affected by their geography and how the ideals of freedom, equality, democracy, and economic well‐being have been powerful motivators throughout our nation’s history. In the second semester, students will analyze American history from Reconstruction to the present. They will discover how the history of the United States is a story of diverse groups struggling to realize the American ideal and how the nation has been shaped dramatically by relatively rapid economic growth.
