Ballet IV

Ballet IV - Dance Composition and Choreography - A project based dance class to study the theory and practice of dance composition/choreography in order to create original dance works. In this course, we will learn the tools and techniques of creating original dance compositions using Laban Movement Analysis (LMA), studying choreographic devices and tools, and analyzing master works of modern concert dance. Students will also learn all aspects of Dance Production by participating in and creating a classroom production company that is responsible for presenting an original, student created dance concert and assisting in all Dance Company productions. The course culminates in a senior portfolio created and presented by the students in preparation for the Arts Endorsement Certificate. Eligible students are given the opportunity to sit for the Arts Endorsement Regents exam.
