Maspeth High School Boys Track Competes at Championships

The term heat had various meanings on this day. Not only does it refer to a single race in a specific event but it also meant the warmth coming from the sun. Sitting around in the heat waiting for specific events to start was a competition on its owning.

Anthony “No Joke” N. finished in 3rd place in his respective freshmen 800m heat and in 1st place in his respective freshmen 400m heat. Freshmen Charles K. finished in 1st place in his respective freshmen 200m Heat. Other runners included sophomores Aaron L. and Kacper F.

When asked about competing in such tough conditions and the outlook for next season, Coach Mustac had this to say “It’s hot! In conditions like there were today another competitor comes out to play. You compete against other schools, you battle personally and you’re fighting against the Heat. We had a runner that couldn’t finish the meet due to the extreme conditions. I’m excited for next season. We’ll have a new group of athletes coming in and most of our nucleus will remain intact. Some of the older athletes are ready to take on leadership roles that are left open due to the departing of the senior class.”

That concludes the boys Outdoor Track season. On behalf of the team we want to say thank you to all of our followers and support throughout the entire year.
