Maspeth High School Parent Teacher Association Holds 1st School Year Meeting

The Maspeth High School Parent Teacher Association held its first meeting of the 2019-2020 school year on the evening of September 25.
 
Incoming PTA President, Barbara Jankowski, called the meeting to order and introduced the PTA Executive Board.
 
Fred Walsh, Superintendent of NYC Affinity Schools and Founding Principal, Khurshid Abdul-Mutakabbir addressed parents, faculty, staff and students.
 
Mrs. Jankowski then introduced Maspeth High's United Federation of Teachers Chapter Leader Keith Powell and UFT Delegate, Justin Lacoff.  The two teachers presented awards of recognition to a Maspeth High senior and two juniors for their demonstration of Maspeth High's core values of Truth, Beauty & Goodness.
 
PTA President Jankowski went on to describe effortless fundraisers through TD Bank and Stop n Shop.
 
The monthly PTA Bake Sale fundraiser was announced and parents were asked to volunteer.
 
The PTA answered questions during a Q&A session prior to the Treasurer's Report.
 
Mrs. Nunez, PTA Treasurer, announced that the PTA's beginning school-year balance was $75.00 and contributions to-date have totaled over $3,000.00!
 
Parents volunteered to serve on various PTA committees after the meeting was adjourned.
